Sarah Putterman
Teacher
Sarah Putterman has worked with numerous groups as a teacher, choreographer, and performer. She trained at the Interlochen Arts Academy and University of North Carolina School of the Arts under Mel Tomlinson and Melissa Hayden. Sarah also studied at George Washington University under Dana Tai-Soon Burgess. In addition to teaching various styles of dance in the BFA musical theatre program at William Peace University from 2011 - 2019, Sarah taught at North Carolina Dance Institute from 2006 - 2019. Sarah has also worked as a lead teaching artist with North Carolina Arts in Action, a local affiliate of the National Dance Institute, founded by New York City Ballet principal dancer and pioneer for arts education Jacques D'Amboise. Sarah danced for three seasons with Natalie Marrone’s The Dance Cure, with whom she performed at The American Dance Festival in 2013. Sarah was also a founding member of Black Box Dance Theatre, curated by Michelle Pearson. She has toured with the North Carolina Dance Festival, performed at The North Carolina Dance Alliance, and appeared in original works by Grady Bowman, Renay Aumiller, and Lindsey Matheis. Most recently, Sarah taught from 2019 – 2024 at The Studio: A Dance Center for Adults in Brookline. Her passion for dance is evident to all who know her, and she loves to share that passion with her students and her community.
